San Diego Gastroenterology™ Medical Associates

Dr. Sally Stipho is the newest member of San Diego Gastroenterology Medical Associates. She is originally from the East Coast. She spent several years overseas and was fortunate to attend the internationally renowned Medical School at the University of Nottingham in England. There she received a degree in Medical Sciences with a focus in cellular biology with honors, followed by her medical degree in 2000. She then completed a year of postgraduate training in medicine and surgery in England, with emphasis in gastroenterology and colorectal surgery.

She joined the Internal Medicine residency program and completed three years training at Brown University, Rhode Island followed by a year as Chief Resident at the same program. She received several awards including the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award and the Liauguadas Award for Outstanding Scholarship and Clinical Skill.

Dr. Stipho then moved on to complete a three year fellowship program in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center and Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ.

She is currently a member of several professional societies including the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Stipho was recognized by the American College of Gastroenterology for her research in optimizing methods for detection of colorectal polyps. She has authored numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and has presented her research at several national meetings. She is currently a member of the teaching staff for the department of Gastroenterology, at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego.

Dr. Stipho enjoys every aspect of gastroenterology and strives to provide the best care possible to her patients. She speaks English, French and Arabic.
